Getting Active on the Marketplace

Creating your Service Envoy account is step one — but signing up by itself doesn't make you available on the marketplace. To get hired for work, or to post work to the technician network, you have to activate a marketplace profile. This article explains the two paths, what each requires, and how to turn off the setup reminders for any path you don't plan to use.

1. Two ways to use the marketplace

The marketplace works in two directions, and you can use either one — or both:

Most accounts only need one side. If you signed up to find work, you only need the technician path; if you signed up to hire help, you only need the client path. Setting up one side never forces you to set up the other — and you can dismiss reminders for the side you don't use (see section 4).

The public marketplace is U.S.-only today.

2. Activate your Technician Profile (to get work)

Open My Tech Profile from the navigation menu. Your profile won't be visible to clients until you complete these required items and switch it to Active:

Once those are met, flip the Active switch on the Marketplace Profile tab to go live. We strongly recommend also adding your skills, a short bio, your tools, and an insurance certificate — clients filter and choose techs on these, so a fuller profile wins more work. To actually receive payment, you'll also connect Stripe payouts.

For the full walkthrough, see Setting Up & Activating Your Technician Marketplace Profile.

3. Activate your Client Profile (to post work)

Open My Client Profile from the navigation menu and go to its Marketplace tab. To post work and hire technicians, complete these required items and enable your profile:

Once enabled, you can post site visits, fund them, and route them to technicians. For the full walkthrough, see Setting Up & Activating Your Client Marketplace Profile.

4. Setup reminders — and how to turn them off

Once you've started setting up a profile but haven't activated it, Service Envoy emails a reminder about 3 days later and then weekly — five emails at most — so the step doesn't fall through the cracks, and shows a banner in the app. These stop automatically the moment that profile goes active.

If a path doesn't apply to you, you can dismiss its reminders in one click:

Dismissing only silences the side you choose — the other side is unaffected — and you can turn reminders back on anytime: for the technician side on the Marketplace Profile tab of My Tech Profile, for the client side on My Client Profile → Marketplace, in the Client Marketplace Status card.

5. After you're active

Once your technician profile is active, you'll appear in client searches and can be invited to work and apply to open site visits. Once your client profile is enabled, you can post and fund site visits and route them to technicians. Activation isn't permanent paperwork — keep your contact info, address, skills, and insurance current so you stay eligible and competitive.
